American Cancer Society's Road to Recovery matches people with cancer with drivers to take them to their cancer related appointments.

Council on Aging Van Transportation

Council on Aging Van Transportation is provided by most local councils on aging and includes free or low cost van transportation for residents to medical appointments or shopping.

Healthcare Transportation 

Healthcare Transportation can assist individuals with getting to and from important health-care services such as doctor visits, hospital stays, rehabilitation and therapeutic services, and behavioral health and substance use disorder services.  For more information, contact the Human Service Transportation Office.

Massachusetts Regional Transit Authorities

Massachusetts Regional Transit Authorities are regional authorities that provide fixed route and paratransit services in communities across the state.


MassMobility is a resource for finding transportation services in Massachusetts. The MassMobility website includes information on transportation providers, how to use transportation resources efficiently, and how to find rides. MassMobility is an initiative of the Executive Office of Health and Human Services.

Public Transportation in Massachusetts

The MBTA and 15 Regional Transit Authorities (RTAs) provide fixed route and paratransit service in communities across the state. Find, and visit, your transit authority's website - or contact them directly - to learn what specific services they may offer to your city or town.


The RIDE is the Massachusetts Bay Transit Authority (MBTA) paratransit service that provides door-to-door, shared-ride transportation to eligible people who cannot use other forms of public transit due to a disability.

Ride Match 

Ride Match was created to provide a comprehensive listing of transportation providers in Massachusetts. It can be used by anyone searching for transportation, but is particularly useful for people with disabilities and older adults who often need accessible transportation options. To arrange for transportation, search for a full list of options in your city or town and either call the transportation provider listed on the site or go to the “Contact” page to find the Regional Transit Authority that serves your community.​​

Senior Shuttle

Age Strong Shuttle offers free door-to-door transportation service to Boston Senior residents ages 60 and over. Rides are offered to non-emergency medical appointments.

Taxi Vouchers

Taxi Vouchers are available through some local Councils on Aging that contract with local Taxi Companies to provide Taxi cab vouchers.

Veterans Transportation 

Veterans Transportation services targeted to veterans to help veterans access medical care at the Veterans Administration or travel to other destinations. 

Volunteer Driver Programs 

Volunteer Driver Programs connect volunteer drivers with individuals seeking transportation assistance. Local Volunteer Driver Programs are often run by Councils on Aging.
